The Pyramid in Lehighton may be closing for good, but that doesn’t mean senior citizens can’t still work out close to home.
Jennifer Dages, who taught senior fitness at The Pyramid, is moving to Spillane’s Fit in Palmerton, and to the Lehighton Senior Center.
Dages said there is something for seniors in Carbon County who are interested in group fitness classes in both Palmerton and Lehighton.
She said Tai Chi for seniors, called Silver Sneakers Ener-chi, will be held at 9 a.m. Monday mornings at the Lehighton Recreation Center as of July 11.
“Silver Sneakers is free and all others donation,” Dages said. “Tai Chi is a great exercise for balance, strength, flexibility, brain health, stress relief and more.”
Dages said Life and Boomers classes will be held at 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday mornings at Spillane’s Fit in Palmerton.
“These classes are a combination of strength and cardio exercises,” she said.
Dages said Circuit and Tai Chi will be held at 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday mornings at Spillane’s Fit.
She said classes begin July 5.
Dages said Spillane’s Fit recognizes Silver Sneakers and other programs, and all classes are included in a membership at Spillane’s Fit.
She said seniors may contact Spillane’s Fit for more information on Tuesday-Thursday classes, and the Lehighton Senior Center for Monday classes.
Dages is certified in Group Fitness, Silver Sneakers and Functional Aging Group Fitness.
