Sustainable mobility in Saudi Arabia set to progress as Alstom collaborates with Saudi Railway Company – RailAdvent – Railway News

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the two companies which will see the development and adaptation of train solutions.
Following a series of meetings between and the award-winning Saudi Railway Company an agreement was reached and the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr Khaled Alharbi, Senior Vice President of Operations at and Mohamed Khalil, Managing Director of Alstom . This positive step forward will see the increasing demand for seamless, safe and integrated sustainable public transport achieved.
The project will see opportunities investigated for sustainable mobility in Saudi Arabia with continual work to move forward and implement the solutions required for railway infrastructure in alignment with Vision 2030.
The Memorandum of Understanding marks Alstom’s commitment to creating global mobility champions based in Saudi Arabia which will build on the ongoing partnership with Saudi Arabian Railways.
Mama Sougoufara, Alstom’s Managing Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey regions said: “This partnership is an opportunity for Alstom to grow our collaboration with Saudi Arabia Railways and work together to address the mobility needs of the Kingdom as they execute on Vision 2030.”
1951 Saw Alstom first work in Saudi Arabia with the installation of the first gas turbine for the Kingdom and has since become a leader in global mobility and a major contributor towards the advancement of the region’s transport infrastructure. Alstom continues to be the leading supplier of sustainable mobility solutions which is due to Saudi Arabia’s huge investment in its rail transport systems.
Saudi Arabia recently committed to achieving Net Zero by 2060 and Alstom will support this aim with sustainable mobility infrastructure such as railway transport playing a huge part in the country’s goals of creating a more sustainable future for its people and the region.
